Some registered voters in our county, including Permanent Absentee voters, have received a prefilled Early Mail Ballot application from an activist group. These did not come from Tioga County Board of Elections.
With this new method of voting, if a voter who is a Permanent Absentee Voter applies for an Early Mail Ballot, it will cancel their Permanent Absentee status. Early Mail Ballot applications expire after either one (1) election or one (1) calendar year. A voter who fills out an Early Mail Ballot application will have to reapply for each election they want a ballot or every year.
If you did receive one of these in the mail, and you believe you already have a permanent application on file, please contact our office to check your absentee status before submitting the Early Mail Ballot application. If you wish to remain a Permanent Absentee Voter, do not submit the Early Mail Ballot application. By remaining a Permanent Absentee Voter, you will continue to receive a ballot for every election that you are eligible to vote in without having to reapply.
